Three Sisters - Wigan

Track Guide

The Three Sisters Circuit is located near Wigan, follow the signposts from the M6, junction 25. There is a good cafe in the Clubhouse and spectators get a great view of the circuit from the bank running around the perimeter.

The venue offers a variety of track configuration. These are described below:
Pit Lane Start Double Lap
Pit Lane Start Single Lap


Pit Lane Start Double Lap

Pictures are from a track walk, in the configuration used on 5th August 2007, the Two-Lap Pit Lane Start configuration. Notes relate to a lap in a 4/4 Zetec.

[ Paddock Bend ]
The start line is in the pit lane exit. In to 2nd gear, you are immediately into Paddock Bend. Only the first half of the bend is used. Hold a tight exit line on the right.

[ Left ]
Keep right. Turn in late.

[ Rogersons Straight ]
Run out to the right onto Rogersons Straight.

[ Rogersons Straight ]
Keep right, brake and turn in late.

[  ]
Keep to the left on exit.

[ Lunar Bend ]
Lunar Bend is a tight, 180° right hander.

[ Lunar Bend ]
Run out to the left, accelerate hard and take an early apex on the next bend.

[  ]
Run out to the left, still accelerating hard through the kink and on to Conrod Straight.

[ Conrod Straight ]
Move to the left on Conrod Straight.

[ Conrod Straight ]
On the first lap, brake hard and late for the sharp right hand bend.
On the second lap, dab the brake and turn in late as you ascend to the finish.

[  ]
Turn in late for the right hander.

[ Esses ]
Accelerate on the exit and cross to the right through the Esses.

[ Esses ]
Carry speed through the left hander.

[ The Valley ]
Move to the left, brake late for Joey Dunlop Corner.

[ Joey Dunlop Corner ]
Turn in late.

[ Start/Finish ]
Cross the Kart Start/Finish line.

[ Paddock Bend ]
Brake late for Paddock Bend. Repeat.





Pit Lane Start Single Lap

Pictures are from a track walk, in the configuration used on 1st October 2006. Notes relate to a lap in a 4/4 Zetec.

[ Start Line ]
The start line is in the pit lane exit. In to 2nd gear and you are immediately into Paddock Bend.

[ Paddock Bend ]
Let the car run wide on the exit.

[ Short Straight ]
Accelerate down the straight and cross to the right.

[ Turn in ]
Brake hard and turn in late.

[ The Valley ]
Keep tight to the kerb to the apex, then accelerate and run out to the right.

[ The Valley]
Accelerate hard along The Valley, keep right. Pick a late braking point.

[ The Esses ]
The Esses are very sharp. First left.

[ The Esses ]
Then right.

[ The Esses ]
Then left.

[ Rogersons Straight ]
Run out to the right and accelerate along Rogersons Straight.

[ Lunar Bend ]
Brake hard for the deceptively sharp left hand bend. Keep left on the exit.

[ Lunar Bend ]
Balance the car round the 180 Lunar Bend. Run out to the kerb on the left.

[ Lunar Bend ]
Take the next two corners in a single sweep, change into 3rd gear to cut wheel spin and clip the kerbs on each apex. Accelerate down Conrod Straight.

[ Pentith Climb ]
Keep left and brake for the righ hander into Pentith Climb.

[ Pentith Climb ]
Accelerate uphill and keep the car balanced over the bumps.

[ Finish ]
Accelerate over the finish line.
