Tour Encore 2008

The 2008 ShropMog event was the Tour Encore - 5th to 15th May. Billed as an "experience of a lifetime" this event was to cover 2800 miles across France and take in some fantastic scenery, marvellous constructions and motor racing.

A total of ten Morgans came on the tour this year, made up from ShropMog and MSCC Staffordshire.

Part 1 - Rozier, Millau, Gorges du Tarn and Avignon

[ Rozier ]
The Tour started at our hotel at Rozier, in the Gorges du Tarn. The hotel carpark was full with Morgans and some Herbies on another tour.

[ Spanners ]
It didn't take long before the spanners were out. Keith and Kevin put the wings back on Bob's +8.

[ Bridge ]
The first visit was to the famous Viaduc de Millau. Designed by Norman Foster, this is the tallest vehicular bridge in the world.

[ Ardeche ]
Some chose a scenic route through the Gorges de l'Ardeche.

[ Mont Ventoux ]
After the stop-over in Avignon, cars choose a route to Menton. Jayne and Simon went to Mont Ventoux. This mountain dominates the Rhone Valley and at 1909 metres is a challenging stage on the cycling Tour de France but more importantly is still used as a motorsport hillclimb.
